Two-time tandem world-record holders JB Owen and Peter Giesin are riding from Utah to Yellowstone, Death Valley, Mount Whitney, Snow Canyon, and the Bonneville Salt Flats to attempt four new world records in climbing and speed.
Peak2Peak is more than a cycling expedition. It is a declaration that ordinary people can choose extraordinary goals, climb beyond what feels possible, and inspire others to discover their own next peak.
Repeatedly climbing and descending Whitney Portal Road for 24 consecutive hours, measuring every metre of ascent.
Climbing one route repeatedly until the tandem has gained 8,848 vertical metres, with the clock running continuously.
A mixed tandem road attempt to cover the greatest possible distance during one continuous 12-hour ride.
Racing 100 kilometres against the clock, aiming to finish faster than the current Guinness World Records benchmark of 2:59:59.
Beginning in Layton, Utah, the route reaches north toward Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons before turning south through Nevada and California, crossing Death Valley, climbing Mount Whitney, and reaching the red cliffs of Snow Canyon. The final destination is the Bonneville Salt Flats, where JB and Peter will attempt the speed records.

Badwater Basin lies 282 feet below sea level. Mount Whitney rises to 14,505 feet, only about 85 miles away. Peak2Peak rides the dramatic line between them, crossing a vertical difference of 14,787 feet in one unforgettable stretch of the expedition.

They were not professional cyclists when they began. They were simply two people willing to start, to trust one another, and to keep pedaling. Since 2020, JB and Peter have crossed countries, deserts, mountain ranges, and borders on one tandem bicycle.
Two very different paths brought JB and Peter to the same bicycle. Together, they turned trust, determination, and shared purpose into a record-setting partnership.
JB had never considered herself a cyclist. In 2020, inspired by her 50th birthday and a desire to prove that a new chapter can begin at any age, she climbed onto a tandem bicycle and started pedaling.
What began as a personal challenge became a life-changing pursuit that has carried her across countries, mountain ranges, deserts, and into the record books.
Peter brought years of solo cycling and endurance experience to the partnership. Before meeting JB, he trained for an Ironman and rode the Tour of California with a cycling group.
His technical knowledge, steady discipline, and experience on the road became the foundation that helped transform two riders into one record-setting tandem team.
In 2025, Pauline answered the Bat-Signal to join two people she had never met for what was supposed to be nine days of their Alaska world-record adventure. She had never driven an RV. She took the wheel anyway on BC’s Sea to Sky Highway, and nine days became thirty-three.
Records fell, and the bonds forged along the way brought her back. She returns for four world-record attempts in thirty days, and serves the team as both Pit Boss and Den Mother alongside her professional practice.

Throughout the expedition, JB and Peter will leave small handmade angels in unexpected places for people to discover. Every angel carries two simple words:
Each angel is created from scrap, reclaimed, or leftover fabric and filled with clean fabric remnants. Their imperfect stitches are part of their beauty. No two need to look alike, yet every one carries the same purpose: to place an unexpected expression of love into another person’s day.
Peak2Peak will begin the Angel Sharing movement, but the invitation reaches far beyond our route. People everywhere will be able to download the pattern and tag, make angels from the fabric they already have, and leave them for someone to find anywhere in the world.
Use reclaimed fabric, the free pattern, and your own hands to create something personal.
Place it safely for a stranger or give it directly to someone who could use a little love.
Invite the finder to share where the angel landed and how the moment made them feel.
Follow the angels as they are placed along Peak2Peak, then return to meet the people who found them and read the stories each small act of love inspired.
